Hello everyone! My name is Tim Hackney, I will be directing The Comedy of Errors by William Shakespeare. I directed The Drowsy Chaperone for Bedford and I am a professional actor living in the area. If you are interested in auditioning for the play, come to a short informational meeting on Monday at 3 in the theatre.
If you have never done Shakespeare before GREAT! As part of the audition process, I will be giving a workshop on how to speak Shakespeare. The Comedy of Errors is one of Shakespeare’s earliest and most farcical plays. This is going to be a great opportunity to learn about acting and to have a LOT of fun. Don’t let the fact that this is a Shakespeare play intimidate you, this is a comedy like any other comedy just written by the best Playwright of all time.
The Comedy of Errors tells the story of two sets of identical twins that were accidentally separated at birth (Shakespeare was father to one pair of twins). Antipholus of Syracuse and his servant, Dromio of Syracuse, arrive in Ephesus, which turns out to be the home of their twin brothers, Antipholus of Ephesus and his servant, Dromio of Ephesus. When the Syracusans encounter the friends and families of their twins, a series of wild mishaps based on mistaken identities lead to wrongful beatings, a near-seduction, the arrest of Antipholus of Ephesus, and false accusations of infidelity, theft, madness, and demonic possession.
If you are at ALL interested come on by the meeting, and I will be happy to answer any questions you have. I can’t wait to see you there.
